Our Experience

I received the software to review with my 9 and 11 year old.  (My 14 year old wouldn’t even consider it).  Since my girls are tired of drills with flash cards, I figured a computer program would be a great fit.  We replaced our math drills with this program.  It took about 5-10 minutes a day with minimal input from me.  (I mainly signed them in)

The starting screen.  Click “Go For It” to start the game.  Click “Bail” to exit the game.  Click on “About” for a copy of the license terms.  Click “Startup Notes” for tips about the game.

On the set-up page select facts type, level type and total number of facts to test. Option available to practice or play for a rating.  Keyboard practice is also available, which is recommended for increasing speed.

The main screen keeps track of total number of facts answered, number that received a “SUPER” rating, percentage of correct items and total time played.

After answering the student receives immediate feedback.  If they get the wrong answer it will ask them to try again.

The buttons below were a little bit confusing.  I could not get the reports to work…but that’s probably because I didn’t spend enough time figuring it out.

As the student reaches 1000 facts, they can earn merit buttons.  They be purchased directly from the vendor.  The cost is $4.00.  This includes all 4 buttons + free shipping.  They can be used on hats, backpacks, etc..

There is a teacher’s guide available for download from their website. This helps with understanding the software and using it with students.

The software is lacking the glitter of today’s modern games.  I found the layout of the information pages a little amateurish. From a design perspective this is not a pretty package.  My girls found it “boring” and they did not want to play.

However, the bones of the software are excellent.  I tested it myself and found it easy-to-use.  The repetition is minimal. I was able to choose when to work on the next fact…a feature that my oldest daughter noticed, and liked.

Overall, this is a good software program and I would recommend it if one doesn’t mind the low quality graphic design.
