Welcome to the very first Health & Fitness Friday! I am launching this new adventure with a giveaway from our chosen PE curriculum, Family Time Fitness. You can join us by signing up for the linky at the end of this post.
Last year I won the Core 1 package. Since we had a current unit study we were using, I saved the program for later in the year. Once we started the program, I knew we would be using it completely for the 2012-2013 school year.
I contacted the company to become an affiliate and was accepted. Recently, I was given the opportunity to give away a Core 1 Package. I immediately said YES!
One of our favorite pieces of this curriculum is the video demonstrations. I do remember some things from my years in physical education, however some of the things, I just didn’t remember!
We began our lesson time by reading the entire lesson page together. This is when we watched any videos or surfed the internet for further information. I made sure that we all understood the activities BEFORE we started.
The lessons start with warm-up exercises. We would take 30 seconds-1 minute for recovery between each set, although sometimes the kids would just keep going! Once warm-up was done, we would enjoy one of the fun activity/games.
Some of our favorites include:
- Frog Squats
- Hula Hoop Walks
- Hula Hoop Tag (Yes, we do love to Hoop!)
We utilized Family Time Fitness one time a week. This year we will be completing lessons on Monday-Friday on our lunch break. We will share the fun (I’m hoping to get them to video it too!) with you on Fridays!
