Meet the Family

Welcome to Taunya’s Place, where my family is living, loving and learning together.

We are a homeschooling family of 5 and keeper of our zoo which consists of 2 guinea pigs (Cookies & Milk), 1 dog (Sir Tucker Jo) and 2 cats(Max and Hazel Nut)!

Our family had planned to travel the US full-time in our RV.  Unfortunately, we are currently parked in Oregon until our business will allow that again.  In the meantime, we take at least 1-2 trips around the state during the month.

Mom (Taunya):  Mom loves to take pictures, scrapbook and write about the zany adventures of homeschooling, traveling  with three kids, a dog and a husband while trying to maintain a sense of normalcy.

Dad (Jeff):  Dad is the pilot of the BEAST – our Ford F-350 truck & Keystone Travel Trailer.  He is also the keeper of the dog, the barbecue and the remote.  He does love to escape from the zoo to whack a little white ball across the green.  When he’s not enjoying us, he’s a Real Estate Appraiser.

The Boy:  The Boy is 13. GULP!  He loves to blow up things, whack things, create things, draw things…he’s basically all boy.  He is a orange belt in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu.  His favorite things to do include drawing, playing video games (anything military) and hanging out with the boys in the hood! (aka the boys in our neighborhood who think he is the king of the world!)  His current career goal is a commercial airline pilot.  He’s already planning for a driver’s AND pilot’s license at age 16!

Missy:   Our middle girl is 10.  She is a mixture of her dad and me and it’s an amazing combination.  She can be sweet and cuddly one minute.  The next she’s fiercely defending her position…doesn’t matter if she is wrong or right.  She LOVES horses, animals, American Girls, music, painting, acting, music and her friends.  When she grows up she wants to be a nurse.  She has a heart of gold!

Bear:  Our youngest child is 9.  She is a firecracker in a cute package.  You do NOT mess with her!  She loves otters, American Girls, math, music and her mommy.  She has an amazing wit.  She also will let you know when she is unhappy, happy or in between.  Shen she grows up she wants to be a dolphin trainer.  She completes our family!

Sir Tucker Jo:  Tucker is our puppy.  He was born March 13, 2011.  He’s a yellow Labrador Retriever and a bundle of energy.  He drives us crazy but we love him!

Cookies & Milk:  Two annoying guinea pigs. They were Missy’s last adoption…and now they are mommy’s not so liked companions.  Who knew that Guinea Pigs could stink and she hair worst than a dog?

Hazel Nut:  Hazel is the baby in the family.  She was born 9/9/11.  She’s a grey kitten with beautiful gray stripes and hazel eyes.  She thinks she is the biggest, baddest cat on the block…um, that would be Mr. Max.

Max:  Max is my baby.  He’s almost 12 years old.  He’s a black kitty with white paws.  He’s a one-person cat, and that person is me.  He’s SORT of accepting of the kitten…the dog, he still hates him.  Max was named after the character in Where the Wild Things Are.

About the Blog

I love to scrapbook.  When we decided to travel the US, I decided that a blog would be the perfect thing to keep our family and friends up-to-date without having to send a large email each day.  What I discovered was that I really loves blogging.

I have always loved writing.  I would spend many hours alone in my room writing a diary, poetry or stories as a young girl.  My grandmother, Nellie Galloway Coleman, was an amazing writer.  She had many entries published during her lifetime.

When I graduated from high school, I attended a local community college.  There I discovered writing on a higher level.  It frustrated me.  My writing teacher was ruthless.  I just could not grasp how to make my thoughts flow onto my paper in the proper way.

Blogging has given me a voice again.  Yes, I’m trying to improve my skill, grammar and vocabulary.  However, I am able to be creative and share my heart, which is what makes me really happy.”

I am a homeschooling mom to children ages 8, 10 and 13.  I randomly blog about homeschooling, home keeping, gardening, cooking, cleaning, being a mom, being a wife, traveling with kids, living simply and laughing as much as possible!  I love to take pictures of my kids, nature and anything that strikes my fancy.  I hope to be able to share the nuts and bolts of our crazy and fun life!
